This prestigious competition winner is the Oil Exhibit Centre for Saudi Aramco designed to accommodate various displays illustrating the company’s history, products, processes, etc. These displays are further supported by a 300 person state-of-the-art auditorium, a library, a large hall that may be used for temporary exhibits, various administration functions, and support facilities. The design and form of the building were created to integrate and harmonize with the rocky and hilly terrain characteristic of the Dhahran region. The building is perched on top of its site, but by using sand colored and textured precast concrete elevation panels, it is seen to “grow-out” of its site naturally, rather than dominate the hill that supports it.
