ARAMCO Mosque

Dhahran

The design is distinguished by its simplicity, impressiveness, elegance, and harmony with the existing buildings. The mosque called for 600 worshippers which could still be expanded to have an extra 500 in the future. The design utilizes the traditional court of a basic mosque design that could be easily enclosed to accommodate the expansion. Proper scaling of the mosque relative to the adjacent buildings was achieved by raising it on a plaza which accommodates all mechanical services and residences for Imam Quarters. The design has horizontal bands of glass and squarish glass panels which relate to the adjacent buildings and were inspired from the tower building. The glass will be patterned stained glass that would look inspiring in the daytime and also when it glows with color in the night relating to the windows of the existing buildings.
