Islamic Center

Buenos Aires

This project reflects Islamic and Arabic town planning and architectural concepts, providing solutions to the environmental and social requirements of the community. Typically, the mosque, school, residence and shops all form one compacted urban fabric in an Islamic town. The total site area is 42,000 m², while the building’s area is 20,000 m². The mosque takes prominence by being located at the end of the main longitudinal axis of this Islamic Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The two Minarets are located in the center of these areas to act as focal points around which the activities of the Islamic Center flow. The design provides solutions to energy conservation issues and ensures minimal maintenance through an exploit in the use of the natural light and ventilation using modern techniques inspired from the Islamic heritage.
